Actually, I too saw cats and began to define their shapes in the early stages of this image. For some reason I stopped and went with what you see.
Thank you!!

So when you say handmade paper, did you make it? Or someone else?

Ha ha! I should have been more specific. It is handmade by someone else. Years ago I bought a book filled with this paper of which was made by a group of people who did this to support themselves. I cannot remember from where it came though.
I have made paper (many many years ago) but did not enjoy the process at the time. I have been thinking about trying it again.

I too, see the multiple cats in it. Reminds me of the "animated" cave paintings from Lascaux and other sites [link]

Actually, I saw several cats in the tea stain and began to define their shapes in the initial drawing but then stopped for some reason. I really like those cave paintings, stylized but style portraying the essence of the animal.

It almost looks like there are 2 or 3 more cats inside of her. Like that exact cat we see, but from a different moment. From lunchtime, laying on the ground in the sunshine, then a bit latter when she spots the tea being made in the kitchen or brought on the terrace - thinking over to get involved... and oh! tea spilled. And back we are - to the cat we see now - reluctant, puzzled and confused - like wondering if she did something bad or what she has done at all?
