I love the saturated colors in this, off-put then by the soft white of the bird :)

Don't know how I feel about the gnarled snake/demon head thing in the background though... it's a bit too abstract for the piece and concentrating it in the one spot like that distracts from the majesty of the bird and other color combinations.

The thought with the background was to abstract it to an almost nonfigurative state with mottled marks and colors allowing the viewer to "fill in" what might go there. I am looking closely and think I might see the serpent you are seeing. I find it amazing the number of different things people can see in one artwork. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this piece with me.
