This piece almost disturbs me, mainly because it makes me think of a Harpy, which, for some reason, that mystical creature seems to freak me out. But the way you painted it seems like it's fading out from a dream. So don't get me wrong, I love it!

The intent of this character is for each viewer to perceive it differently depending upon what he or she is feeling and thinking. I find it interesting you see it with harpy-like characteristics and yet you also like it.
Thank you!!!

Absolutely stunning. Not only do I absolutely adore the colour, but the shapes just hold such an innate grace and mysticism. A phenomenal commission .

I love the saturated colors in this, off-put then by the soft white of the bird :)

Don't know how I feel about the gnarled snake/demon head thing in the background though... it's a bit too abstract for the piece and concentrating it in the one spot like that distracts from the majesty of the bird and other color combinations.

I am pleased you like the colors! Thank you!!
The thought with the background was to abstract it to an almost nonfigurative state with mottled marks and colors allowing the viewer to "fill in" what might go there. I am looking closely and think I might see the serpent you are seeing. I find it amazing the number of different things people can see in one artwork. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this piece with me.

The way you draw wings is stunning, and I like the subtle circle around the head that draws you into that part of the picture. I'm finding the background very intriguing too, when I first saw it I thought the gnarled bit looked like an eye, or something of the sort.
