Proposed and accepted book cover for a collegiate book on Kierkegaard philosophy.
It is based on an image of the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard combined with the Lily and the Bird (below)


Acrylics and graphite pencil on bristol paper.
11x14 inches

Original image not available. The book, Kierkegaard, Communication and Virtue: Authorship as Edificationby Mark A. Teitgen, can currently be pre-ordered through Amazon (Keyword search: Mark Teitgen). The Title will be released July, 1, 2013.

This is so wonderful. And I definitely feel it portrays Kierkegaard's... tone, if that makes sense.

I enjoy drawing and painting people, creating characters and such, they just don't get posted often. I had a blast making this portrait!
As I tried to explain to a high school art class not too long ago, I like to paint people but also want to paint figurative works the viewer can relate to regardless of gender or ethnicity.
More people images will be coming soon!
