Mixed wet and dry media on Rives BFK. 22x30 inches.
This is part of a series I am working on where the artwork can be set side by side and it should look like a long continuous work. Like a diptych but touching and of course involving more artwork.

You have a very personal iconography and it shows in every one of your paintings, yet it is outstanding to see more complex pieces like this one, especially if it will be part of a bigger project.
Your use of intense colors (phtalo blue?) makes an impact in the viewer, yet your mix with sober grays gives more depth to the piece and to the concept itself.
The composition is outstanding, my only suggestion would be maybe to make the main figure (the vase) less solid, since it already has attention supported with the blue shade and its situation and size. You may have already tried this so I don´t know if this suggestion is valid :D
All in all, congratulations for this is an amazing work!

Mixed media: acrylics, pastel, charcoal, graphite, and ancillary media.

Thanks!

That's a gorgeous blue...I love how you've mixed some ambiguous forms with more concrete ones, like the bowl and the dragonflies. The title really makes you think about the piece! :D

The blue is mostly Golden acrylic's turquoise(pthalo). There are some other minor blues in there too but the turquoise is the majority. A color with a lot of depth.
Thank you!

Oh, what incredible textures! The collision of wet and dry here is beautiful, and really leads my eye all around the piece. Definitely something interesting everywhere I look! :aww:

The different saturation levels of blue are also very effective!

No. This is a personal project. I will be working on something different for the show. I'll know more when I find out what the people next to me are doing, wink wink.
